Tasting Note
Wine Advocate 93 - 94, April 2007
The 2005 Chambolle-Musigny Les Feusselottes (assembled in tank) displays alluring scents of red raspberry, red currant, raw meat, and white pepper, iris, a crisply-fresh fruited, bright, yet smoothly-textured palate, and a finish that displays a Riesling like call-and-response of fruit with salty-stony minerality and an utterly winning combination of pungency, precision and sheer refreshment
Winemaking
The grapes are hand-picked. Once they arrive in the vat-house, they are rigorously selected for quality on a sorting table, the stems totally removed, and the remaining grapes placed in vats.
After cold maceration lasting from four to five days, the alcoholic fermentation continues for approximately 10 days.
The total vatting time lasts from 15 to 20 days. After devatting and pneumatically pressing, each "cuvée" (vat content) is then poured into oak barrels in our cellars to age for the next 18 months.
This period of ageing is interspersed with racking (removing the young wine from one cask to another, leaving the lees and sediment behind). Each appellation is then blended. The wines are bottled at the domain, and are neither fined nor filtered.
Winery
Established in Vosne-Romanée since 1930, the Mugneret Domain, now led by Marie-Christine and Marie-Andrée, represents three generations of passion for vine and wine.
With a rich winemaking heritage in Côte de Nuits, particularly Vosne-Romanée, the name Mugneret originates from "meunier."
Cultivating over 8 hectares across 9 appellations, the domain produces 20,000 to 30,000 bottles annually, respecting nature's influence. Winery sustainable viticulture, allowing each plot's unique character to shine. By opting for ploughing to nurture deep vine roots, they capture the terroir's essence in the grapes, embodying the domain's commitment to quality and tradition.
