Opening super clear, fresh and chalky on the nose, the 2019 Ried Zieregg Morillon exhibits the pure terroir with its refreshing lime and lemon aromas. Intense and complex on the palate, this is a round, very elegant, fresh and tangy Zieregg with incredible energy and tension. The finish is amazing, the wine mind-blowing and without rivals in all of South Styria. An absolutely fabulous Morillon. 13% stated alcohol. Glass stopper. Tasted in Grafenegg in September 2021. Drink Date: 2021 - 2050

A very impressive chardonnay with concentration, structure and the special herbal and citric freshness of the region. Tons of chalky minerality and serious herbal complexity at the very long, tight finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold. Glass stopper.
Winemaking
Tement specializes in exceptional single-vineyard wines, with their flagship being the Sudsteiermark Sauvignon Blanc “Kalk & Kreide.” This blend, sourced from fifty sites, highlights the limestone and clay terroir. Grapes are hand-harvested, undergo 12-24 hours of maceration, and ferment spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel.
“Kalk & Kreide” is aged on the lees for six months before release, while single-vineyard wines mature in large neutral oak barrels for 18-24 months, bottled without filtration. Minimal sulfur is added only a month before bottling, allowing the wines to fully express their terroir with remarkable precision.

Perched at 330-490 meters above sea level, Ried Zieregg boasts a steep, south-southwest exposure. This high-altitude location, shaped by the Paratethys Sea 15 million years ago, features ancient coral reefs that provide exceptional conditions for crafting profound, elegant wines.
These limestone remnants contribute to wines with remarkable structure, individuality, and significant aging potential.
Tement is from southern border of Austria to Slovenia. A white wine specialist receives many high scores from worldwide critics in recent years. This wine is not available in Hong Kong and probably the whole Asia.
