Tasting Note
Wine Advocate 89 points, Joe Czerwinski, 05 May 2022
The 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc is approximately half Grenache Blanc, with the balance a blend of Clairette and Roussanne. The Grenache and Clairette are vinified and matured in concrete, while the Roussanne is barrel fermented and aged, and then the components are blended. It's marked by struck flint, melon and tangerine on the nose, while the palate is medium to full-bodied and reasonably generous but also crisp and slightly bitter on the finish. Drink it over the next year or two.

Winemaking
Pressed and fermented straight away in stainless steel vats, and aged on its fine lees for 6 months with constant stirring.
Winery
Founded in 1967 by Aime Sabon who after concluding his military service, took over the vines from his father, quit selling wines to the local cooperative to started producing his own wines. By 1973 Aime finished the construction of its own cellar, and named the Domaine de La Janasse.
Aime acquired further plots and expanded the estate from the original 15 hectares to over 90 hectares the domaine owns nowadays.
In 1991 after concluding a technical diploma in viticulture and oenology in Macon Christophe Sabon (Aime eldest son), took over the domaine from his father. In 2001 his sister Isabelle a graduated winemaker from the University of Toulouse joined the team.
