Tasting Note
Wine Enthusiast 94, Anna Lee C. Iijima
The crunch of red currants brightens fleshier tones of black plum and cherry in this penetrating wine. While powerful in fruit, it's anchored by a backdrop of salty mineral complexities and taut, persistent tannins. Firmly structured, the wine is best approached from 2024. It should maintain peak well through 2035 and hold further.
Decanter 93
The domaine owns just over 1ha in Beaune Premier Cru Cent Vignes, with a mid-slope position. The fruit is destemmed and fermented on native yeasts, prior to ageing in cask (25% new). Despite the heat of the year, the wine has retained a pleasant freshness and there is impressive depth to the grippy mulberry fruit on the palate.
Winemaking Winery
Fruit from a 1.16Ha parcel with south exposure and clay limestone soil.
100% Pinot Noir. Les Cents Vignes is a 23.5 ha Climat in the Beaune 1er Cru appellation. Les Cents Vignes originally comes from "Sanvignes" which would mean "village in the forest". Later on, the name evolved to "Les Cents Vignes", more adapted indeed because vines are plenty.
After a sorting in the vineyard and in the cellar, the grapes are destemmed then directly vatted. A pre-fermentation cold maceration is carried out during 5 days. The spontaneous fermentation then starts. The fermentation lasts 3 weeks in total. The wine is then aged in oak barrels (25% new barrels) for 15 months. Bottled without filtration or fining. Organic
