Tremblay Marchive is a side-project from the epic producer Domaine des Malandes, makers of super-premium Chablis including Premier and Grand Cru. They are a producer of the highest calibre, making some of the most refined wines in the region.

The domaine began in 1949 with a small plot of Fourchaume farmed by André and Gabrielle Tremblay. At that time, frost and a lack of mechanization made work difficult and unprofitable.

Despite these challenges, they expanded their holdings and passed over 7 hectares of vineyards to their daughter, Lyne Marchive. In 1973, Lyne started bottling wine at the domaine, and over the next 30 years, she grew both the number and size of the vineyards, modernized the equipment, and expanded the winery.

In 2018, she stepped aside, handing the domaine to her son Richard, who became managing director, and her daughter Amandine, who leads sales, marketing, and communication. Lyne’s eldest daughter, Marion, also a partner in the domaine, works in the wine industry in California.

Winemaking

The current chief winemaker at the domaine is Guenole Breteaudeau, who joined in 2006. Today, the domaine owns 29 hectares of vineyards, ranging from Petit Chablis to the Grand Crus, with a goal of eliminating chemicals to enhance wildlife and soil sustainability.

Organic fertilizers are used when necessary, and careful vineyard management helps prevent diseases. Horses are employed for plowing to aerate the soil and improve biodiversity. Since 1963, the vineyards have utilized massal selection, promoting genetic diversity and allowing the best vines to be propagated and grafted onto new plantings.
