Tasting Note
Wine Advocate 92, Yohan Castaing
Partly destemmed, macerated for 26 days and matured in a combination of foudres, used barrels and concrete tanks, the Usseglio's 2022 Chateauneuf du Pape reveals a vibrant bouquet of perfectly ripe dark wild berries, dark cherries, flowers, garrigue and spices mingled with menthol. Medium-bodied, round and enveloping with a fleshy core of fruit, it's seamless and unctuous with chewy tannins and a long, elegant finish. Composed of 80% Grenache Noir, 10% Cinsault, 6% Mourvèdre, 3% Cinsault and 1% Counoise, this wine promise to develop beautifully over the next five to 10 years.

Winemaking Winery
Our CNP Rouge dominated by 80% Genache is a blend of the different varietals and different terroirs of our appellation. A well-structured wine with fine and elegant tannins.
To be carried during the first years. Because it is bottled without any filtration, some sediment – natural and beneficial to the ageing process – is possible
Winery
Domaine Raymond Usseglio was created by Stephane Usseglio's grandfather, Francis Usseglio, an Italian immigrant who emigrated in 1931 from Piemont in Italy.
The estates owns more than 33 parcels in various lieux dits of Châteauneuf including La Crau, Terres Blanches, Le Trequoys, etc.
Stephane then started the process of certification to organic and biodynamic viticulture back in 2010, which was completed in 2015.
Soil management is extremely important with strategies adapted to each parcel specificity; hoeing and ridging, spiking and tilling are performed across the year to favor the aeration and the life in the soils.
