In 2008 Charlotte and Thomas acquired the domaine Terre de l'Élu located in Saint Aubin de Luigne in the Layon Valley. This is a 20 hectares organically farmed property that grows Cabernet Franc, Chenin Blanc, Gamay, Groulleau among others).
The vinification is made as natural as possible, with the use of gravity, natural fermentation and whole bunch maceration for the reds. No filtration and low SO2 doses. clay Amphoras were adopted to replace concrete vats.
In 2018 the domaine decided to withdraw from the AOC and produce their wines under the Vin de France classification.
100% Cabernet Franc from 80 years old vines planted in shale sandstone soils.
The Grapes are destemmed but not crushed and placed in Amphora for a 5 weeks maceration with light punch downs.
Magellan is than pressed an matured for 20 months in Amphora and bottled without filtration.
