Marcel Lapierre took over the family domaine from his father in 1973. In 1981, his path would be forever changed by Jules Chauvet. Jules was a winemaker, a researcher and a chemist, and the first to speak out for "natural wine" in Beaujolais.

In 2010 Marcel passed away and his son Mathieu and daughter Camille continue the work he started, introducing biodynamic vineyards practices.

The grapes are picked as ripe as possible, which is a trademark of the domaine. The must is fermented by carbonic maceration, with whole cluster in large oak vats, filled with CO2.
The wine is finally aged in large oak vats, aged from 3 years to 30 years.

Cuvee Marcel Lapierre is produced only in exceptional years, from the centenary Gamay vines located on the Côte du Py and at "Le Douby", near Fleurie. The production never totals more than 2.5 hectares.
