It's a small domaine farming only 6 hectares of land exclusively in Gevrey-Chambertin. Claude is now the 5th generation of Dugats at Gevrey.
The fruit for the Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru is a blend of vines 50/50 in Les Craipillot and La Perrieres, all hand-harvested, 100% destemmed and fermented in open topped cement vats and left to ferment with natural yeasts. There are 2 punch-downs per day, but no pump overs. There is no fining or filtration.
The Gevrey Chambertin 1er cru is matures in oak barrels from François Frere, 100% new for 18 months.
