This wine is dedicated to the Black Valentine of the South African wine industry.
The Cinsault variety.
How did the older generation of winemakers manage to make 35 year old wines of such elegance and freshness?
A considerable amount of Cinsault grapes were used by the older generation wine maker in South Africa. That helped the wines to keep freshness and structure for decades, and changed with the arrival of the new generation and the wish to make full bodied, extracted wines.
The wine is Mainly SWARTLAND Syrah, small bit of SWARTLAND Mourvedre and yes, a large chunk of DARLING Cinsaut.
