Fith-generation Napa natives, Maggy and John began to endeavor in the 1970s planting The Judge vineyard on the Kongsgaard family land near Napa. The inaugural wines came in 1996.
In the winery John decided to follow the old school Burgundian approach, and use only high quality low yielding fruit.
The wines are fermented and aged in French oak barrels, with native yeast fermentations, minimal sulphur additions and minimal batonnage. The results are Chardonnays that combine incredible weight with grace and a lightness of touch that is amazing considering their concentration.
Aged 24 months in 80% new oak.
